What Is Included in Our Clearwater Rentals (and What to Leave at Home)
A host's honest packing list for our Oasis Dream condo at Avalon: the kitchen, laundry, WiFi and pool you get, so you pack lighter.
Why this list exists
A lot of what goes into a suitcase for a beach trip is already waiting in the apartment, and a few things people expect to find are not. This list is meant to sort both. It is written mostly about Oasis Dream Vacations at Avalon, our short stay condo in the gated Avalon complex in Clearwater, because that is the unit we can speak to line by line from the listing and from the owners, Mike and Gina. Where a detail is specific to Oasis Dream and not the others, we say so.
One honest thing before the list. Avalon is a gated residential complex about 3.5 miles from Clearwater Beach, which is roughly a 10 to 15 minute drive. It is not on the sand. If you want beachfront, our where to stay guide walks through that tradeoff. What Avalon gives you instead is a full apartment: a real kitchen, a washer and dryer, a private balcony, and room for six, without the beachfront premium.
In the kitchen: cook or do not, but you can
The Oasis Dream kitchen is a full kitchen, not a kitchenette. It has a dishwasher, microwave, oven and fridge, plus a coffee setup. That covers most of what a family actually does on a beach trip: breakfast before the sand, a fridge full of drinks and leftovers, a dishwasher so nobody is stuck at the sink on vacation.
What that means for your bag: leave the travel kettle, the plates and the pans at home. Bring the consumables you have opinions about. Your coffee if you are particular, cooking oil, spices, dishwasher tabs and trash bags if you plan to cook a lot, because starter amounts run out. A grocery run sorts the rest. Publix is nearby, and if you want to cook a real dinner, Florida stone crab season opens October 15 and runs into spring, so it turns up on local menus and seafood counters through the fall and winter (check current).
Laundry, WiFi and a place to work
Two things quietly change how you pack. First, there is an in unit washer and dryer. That alone lets you cut a beach wardrobe roughly in half: pack for four or five days, wash mid trip, done. Sandy towels and swimsuits get a rinse instead of riding home wet in a bag.
Second, the WiFi is 213 Mbps and there is a dedicated workspace in the unit. That is genuinely fast, fast enough for video calls, uploads and a couple of people working at once, which is why a remote work stay is easy here. So the laptop earns its place in the bag. The portable hotspot does not.
Rounding out the indoors: a Smart TV, central air conditioning, and a private balcony to sit out on. Central AC matters more than it sounds in a Florida summer, when the average high sits at 91°F in July and August (Clearwater climate normals, check current).
On the grounds: pool and fitness
You do not have to leave Avalon to swim or train. On the community grounds there is a heated saltwater pool, open all year, and a fitness center. The pool being heated and open year round is the useful part: it means a January stay still gets pool time, when the Gulf water is down around 63°F and too cold for most people (climate normals, check current).
One access note specific to Oasis Dream: the apartment is on the third floor with stairs and no elevator, and reaching the pool is one level up with stairs as well. If stairs or heavy gear are a concern, tell us before you book and we will talk it through.
The balcony beach essentials (Oasis Dream)
Here is the detail most listings bury. Our Oasis Dream apartment stocks beach essentials on the private balcony. That is the bulky, annoying category of gear you would otherwise buy on arrival or drag through an airport, and having some of it waiting is a real reason you can pack lighter for this unit. We keep the exact contents at the listing’s own wording on purpose, so message us before you arrive and we will tell you precisely what is out there for your dates rather than have you assume.
The same caveat goes for the other units. If you are booking Blue Ocean or Dolphin Point instead, message us first and we will tell you exactly what that unit provides.
Getting in: self check in, no key handoff
Check in is self service. There is a smart lock, and we send your door code 24 to 48 hours before arrival, so there is no meeting anyone at a desk and no key to lose at the beach. Check in is after 4:00pm and checkout is before 10:00am. Practically, that means late flights are fine, and you do not need to plan your arrival around office hours. Just do not leave the door code at home in an email you cannot open; screenshot it.
Provided vs bring your own
A quick reference for Oasis Dream. Treat the right column as your real packing list.
| Provided in the unit / on the grounds | Bring your own |
|---|---|
| Full kitchen: dishwasher, microwave, oven, fridge, coffee | Groceries, your own coffee, cooking oil, spices |
| In unit washer and dryer (starter detergent) | Extra laundry detergent for a long stay |
| WiFi 213 Mbps + dedicated workspace | Laptop, chargers, your own devices |
| Smart TV, central AC, private balcony | Streaming logins (log out before checkout) |
| Beach essentials on the balcony (ask us for the exact list) | Sunscreen, hats, swimsuits, a cooler bag |
| Heated saltwater pool + fitness center (on the grounds) | Pool toys if you want them |
| Smart lock, door code sent 24 to 48h before | The door code saved offline / screenshotted |
| Bed linens and bathroom (2 bedroom, 2 bath, sleeps 6) | Any specialty toiletries or medication |
Two rules worth flagging while you pack: it is a no pets and no smoking unit, and quiet hours run 10:00pm to 8:00am. So the dog stays home, and it is not a party house.
What this means if you are traveling with kids
For a family, the provided list does a lot of quiet work: the washer and dryer means fewer outfits, the kitchen means real breakfasts and controlled snacks, and the balcony stocked with beach essentials means less to haul to the sand. The heated pool on the grounds is an easy win on a travel day when nobody has the energy for the beach drive yet. We go deeper on this in our Clearwater Beach with kids guide, including the Clearwater Marine Aquarium a short drive away on Island Estates (10am to 5pm daily, admission about $41.95 adult and $32.95 child 3 to 11, check current).
